Conference Name: International Workshop on QoS and Performance Metrics in Service Computing 2008
Description: Non-functional criteria of services are significant, for service computing to deliver its true value for the business. Quality of Service (QoS) in service management from business perspective is a broad concept, containing everything required to satisfy user and customer expectations. The objective of the workshop is to offer a platform for high-quality technical discussions on all relevant aspects of QoS and performance metrics in mobile service computing. It intends to bring together researchers to present and exchange recent research results, ideas, experiences and directions related to them. It seeks original contributions in this demanding field and applications to provide a comprehensive coverage in the field.

QoS has become a de facto standard for offering service computing. However, many quality challenges in this field remain unresolved especially when we want to integrate mobile devices in it. The workshop intends to give coverage to all the three major dimensions to QoS in any computing being the process, product and delivery with reference to service computing. As we develop more advanced architectures it is essential that we address quality challenges in order to take maximum advantage of the technology behind them. In particular, as the computing marches towards pervasiveness supported by mobile devices, we need to address all issues in fulfillment of the SLA guarantees.

Intense support by automated processes and tools is necessary to perform all the service management tasks efficiently. The QoS parameters need to consider both business and technical perspectives in offering the services. It is imperative that some proactive measures need to be taken for creating confidence in service consumer.

Topics:
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Mobile Web Services and Performance Issues
• Performance Evaluation and Benchmarking
• Performance Modeling
• Context-Aware Mobile Services
• Quality Assurance of Web Services
• Fault Resilience Metrics
• QoS in SOA based Grids / Mobile Grids
• Mobile Web Service in Critical Applications
